Conceived by the visionary Johan Pidoux, fondly known as Captain Jo, this innovative concept brings together the joys of camaraderie, breathtaking sunsets, and delectable delights amidst the azure waters of Saint Martin.
Teaming up with his friends Kevin & Nicolas, they realized their dream of creating French Saint Martin’s first-ever floating bar & restaurant. Dutch side Sint Maarten was once home to JabJab’s boat bar, but Hurricane Irma destroyed it, making Balaou a one-of-its-kind location in SXM.
Whether young or young at heart, this vibrant hotspot promises an experience like no other, with food, drinks, water lounges, and music, creating nothing but good times.
Balaou is named after the majestic fish that roams the surrounding waters, a slim fish with a pointed nose that swims at the surface. The restaurant welcomes all to indulge in its offerings, from tantalizing tapas to mouthwatering Bokit (a local favorite), savory pizzas, and a rotation of daily specials; every bite is a culinary delight.
Environmental consciousness meets indulgence with eco-friendly practices, including rainwater collection, solar panels, and a commitment to minimizing waste, as drinks are served in tumblers. Boaters can anchor nearby, and convenient dinghy pick-up services are available. Relax at the bar or on one of the ten complimentary water loungers.

How to get to Balaou:
To visit Balaou you can message them requesting a free dinghy pick up from the charming wooden dock at Quai58 in Grand Case, once you are ready to leave the same dinghy will drop you back at the shore.
Watersports, Live Music & Opening Times
From Thursday through Sunday, you can join exhilarating flyboard lessons with Aquasports SXM or groove to the beats of live DJs every Friday and Sunday afternoon. The Floating Bar celebrates daily with opening hours from 11 a.m. until sunset. Come, dive in, and discover paradise like never before!
