What is the booking procedure?

You can either book through the online booking calendar (where available) and pay in full up front, or request your dates. If the boat is available, you fill in a credit-card authorization form: 20% is charged on the spot and the remaining 80% one week before the charter. If you book within a week of the charter date, 100% is charged.

What is a damage waiver?

All boats are insured and most charters include a captain, so your risk of damaging the vessel is minimal. A damage waiver is an agreement in which you defend, hold harmless and indemnify the operator from liability for property damage or personal injury. With a bareboat rental you sign a damage waiver accepting responsibility for the deductible, as insurers always leave a portion uncovered.

Is gratuity included?

Generally no. Unless stated otherwise, gratuity is not included. A standard tip for the crew is 10% of the charter fee.

What tip or gratuity is usual for a boat charter?

Because the charter amount is relatively large, a 10% tip is sufficient — and 15–20% if the service was exceptional.

What is the half-day rate for a powerboat or yacht?

Prices vary by boat, from about $900 to $6,000 for a half day. Some boats only offer full-day charters, as the preparation time is much the same.
