Guest Notice / Travel Tips (Local & International)
Here are some helpful messages for our guests—things handy to know before traveling to or from our airport:
- Arrival time: For international flights, arrive early. A guide suggests that you may be able to go through check-in & security quickly, but it’s safer to allow plenty of time.
- Shop & eat early: While many shops open around 8:30-9:00 AM and close around 6:00-7:00 PM on the Dutch side, hours can vary, and some may be closed on Sundays or during low-traffic periods.
- Transport & taxis: Taxis and shuttles are available in the arrivals hall. For uneventful transfers, confirm the rate and the driver’s company in advance.
Princess Juliana Airport – General information:
- Smoking: Generally only in designated outdoor areas—inside terminal smoking areas may not be available.
Princess Juliana Airport - WiFi: Free WiFi is available in public areas (e.g., SSID “SXMAIRPORT-WiFi-Visitors” for up to 30 minutes).
- Fun fact: The airport runway is located very close to Maho Beach, offering unique views for guests who enjoy watching or photographing planes.
- Carrying liquids and gels in your hand baggage: When passing through security control, you will be required to present liquids, aerosols, and gels separately. For use only during the flight, you may be allowed to take on board: Baby Food/formula, Prescription Medication, Special diet ingredients.
