Le Galion 2025
The beauty of “Le Galion”, a protected Nature Reserve located in French Quarter in Saint Martin.
When driving from French Quarter (Quartier D’Orleans) to Orient Bay, you first find Amuseum Naturalis on top of the hill. At this free museum, you can learn everything about the flora, fauna & history of the island.
Directly after the museum, take the exit on your right towards “Le Galion”. Entering this street, you’ll pass the Horse Ranch, and when lucky, you hop into visitors enjoying horseback riding in this beautiful area. Or visit the ranch to book this one-of-a-kind experience.
A little further, you find the surf club to your right, this is where young and old are welcome for surf lessons or rentals, or turn left towards the completely renewed parking with several signs explaining about the flora and fauna.
After parking your car, you can walk the white sandy shores or swim in the calm water.
Le Galion Beach is the “go-to” beach for people with kids and the please where most locals learned to swim. There are hardly any waves due to the rock formation on the left, and you can walk up to 50 meters in the water and still be only knee height. This makes it one of the safest environments to swim with kids or older adults.
Le Galion is part of the protected French Nature Reserve, making it a great place to admire the island’s natural habitat and inhabitants. The mangrove trees offer a safe environment for many fish to breed, birds to nest, and other animals such as crabs to hide.
Le Galion has a long stretch of rocks on the ocean side where you can admire the waves splashing up and have views toward Saint Barths.
