Taxi’s | Cabs instead of UBER in SXM:
Because too many people depend on an income as a Taxi driver, we have no UBER on SXM, but Taxi and Taxi vans are available all around. Taxis are not metered on both the Dutch and French sides of SXM, but drivers are required to carry a government-issued rate sheet for two-person occupancy. All rates are based on the distance and because we are such a small island it works slightly differently than anywhere else.
We advise you to always ask the price in advance and when you are a group negotiate your pricing. Rates might be slightly different between Dutch and French side cabs, but they all serve the entire island.

The minimum fares are based on two passengers; each additional passenger is $5 to $15 extra, depending on the destination. From 3 persons there’s a per person price based on the distance to the destination, the price is between $4 and $18 per person.
One piece of luggage per person is allowed for free; each other piece is $2 to $4 extra based on the size.
Important note: Fares are 25% higher between 10 pm and midnight, and 50% higher between midnight and 6 am.

Articles in the national decree that are important:
While all the articles in the national decree are important, we would like to direct your attention to articles 4, 5 and 6, specifically:
Article 4
1. Attaché cases, laptop bags, hand luggage, pushchairs of less than 9 kg, and any type of equipment or device necessary for the mobilization of the consumer shall not be charged.
2. Every consumer is entitled to the free transport of one-piece checked baggage.
3. For each additional piece of checked baggage, NAF 9,- ($ 5) will be charged:
4. For each package or box to be transported that, at the driver’s discretion, must be transported in the trunk, NAF7.20 will be charged.
Article 5
1. In the case of taxi transport in the evening or night hours, the rates referred to in Article 2, second paragraph, shall be increased as follows:
a. between 22:00 and 24:00 by 25%;
b. between 24:00 and 05:00 by 50%.
2. Waiting time is calculated at NAf 7.20 ($ 4) per 5 minutes.
3. The hiring of a taxi takes place at a rate of NAF 90,- ($ 50) per hour.
Article 6
1. The tariffs shall be displayed or handed over to consumers in a visible and clearly legible place in the taxi.
2. The driver is obliged to keep a proper trip administration.
3. The driver is obliged to provide the passenger(s), solicited or unsolicited, with a sufficiently specified receipt.

We contracted Benji to carry our family of 11 from the Maho area to the Greenhouse in Phillipsburg for a daylong snorkeling excursion. He was prompt, professional and very courteous. We got back from the excursion 2 hours late and he was accommodating and very polite. We contacted him from the boat and he came back at the latter time and got us. Never once did he show frustration.
You cannot go wrong using "Benji".
Was in need for transportation for several days for our girls trip of five. Juliette was AMAZING, she provided top tier service for our entire trip. Within the first day her kindness and warmth made her feel like family so we started calling her auntie! She was always prompt, offered reasonable pricing, provided great recommendations and ensured that we were safe. I definitely saved her contact and will utilize my sweet aunts service anytime I visit in the future.
I booked my bday trip to SXM with my 5 friends and we had a wonderful time. Our driver Juliette was super! She was always there when we needed her, always on time, friendly, patient and courteous. We would not have it any other way without her driving us around, giving us history of island, making us laugh and an overall great experience! Thank you Juliette for making our time in SXM great! Miss you already and can't wait until we return.
Juliette was so awesome. I wish I could take her home to the states with me. She knew all the hotspots the low spots the people at the hotspots driving around with her. Made me feel so comfortable and relaxed,. Every every island that deals with tourism needs Juliet in their life, funny very knowledgeable of the island and just all around good person I wanna thank her for the bottom of my heart. I felt like I was leaving a friend behind. I was her copilot the whole trip. And yes, she definitely works late nights because after the club she was there to get my girls.
Juliette was AMAZING! She was readily available day and night and always steered us in the right direction! She brought so much fun and joy to our trip, while also giving us the safety and security we needed when in a new place! We love St. Maarten and we love Juliette!!
Juliette is incredible. She took care of our group of 6 like we were family. She was consistently early if we set a time to be picked up, or she came to pick us up as soon as we called. Her knowledge of the island and surrounding islands was insightful for us all.
