If you’re a fan of cheeses, please visit this tiny haven of goodness. Le Comptoir des Fromages, located in Marigot, is tucked away in a corner that overlooks the French Side’s capital boulevard and the nearby harbor.
This is the new home of Géraud Vallet, originally from a rural region in France called Cantal, where farming and cheese-making are an integral part of their culture. He fell in love with our tiny island and opened up this fromagerie in December 2021.
His store features a hand-picked selection of unique, high-quality cheeses from the world’s finest cheese makers. Goat, Sheep, and Cow cheeses from small farms across Italy, the Netherlands, and primarily France, the undisputed cheese capital of the world.
Most cheeses he carries are not mass-produced to preserve their absolute quality, and commercialization is not the goal. Géraud spends endless hours finding these works of art and loves to share his passion with you in his store.

Cheese & wine lunch:
The store offers a platter with five different kinds of cheese and a wine for only €25, or book the BRAND-NEW cheese tasting platter with 6 cheeses and 6 kinds of wine.
Géraud has space for up to 8 people at a time so as the space is limited we recommend reserving in advance.
We have done the private tasting several times and can highly recommend it for any couple, type of group, or occasion. It is fun, unique, and very tasty!

With this private tasting you enjoy 10 kinds of cheese and 4 different wine pairings for only €97 per person (€91 for We Are SXM). Please reserve in advance with the button below. During these workshops, Géraud shares stories about how cheese is made and its surprisingly interesting history. Fun Fact: Did you know cheese was found 7000 years before Christ?
