This Caribbean Chic beach lounge & restaurant is situated on Mullet Bay Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches of SXM.
Managers Emma and Gil took the opportunity to run Kalatua after successfully redoing and opening Karl Gustaf in Saint Barth. With Emma managing the floor and Gil working as the chef in the kitchen, they like to create an experience like no other. Their goal is to be unique and do something different on the island.
This starts with the quality of the cocktails/mocktails, made with cold-pressed juices from fresh fruits/vegetables (Such as Basil, Cucumber, and watermelon) and top-shelf liquors. Try the “Beach detox”, “Amalfi spritz,” and the bestselling “Watermelon Por Favor”.
Gil created a menu starting with Parisian style Beach breakfast, and for lunch celebrating Mediterranean cuisine, based on fresh and seasonal products, with fish delivered three to four times a week and 90% of the menu homemade.
The chef also uses a Josper oven to create unique smokey flavors. You should undoubtedly try the octopus or whole fish of the day prepared this way.
Other recommendations include the Kalatua platter, which is perfect for sharing and offers a combination of the best dishes on one plate, featuring Mahi Mahi rillette, grilled octopus, panko shrimp, hummus puree, and pita bread.
Make sure to leave some space for their most tempting desserts. Oh, and don’t forget to pair each dish with a fine wine or cocktail.
Parking & shuttle service
To get to Kalatua, park your car in the ample parking in Cupecoy; here, Claude will welcome you with his elegant golf cart and offers you a free shuttle service from and to the beach restaurant.

Opening times & Beach Chairs:
Kalatua is open 7 days a week for breakfast, beach day, lunch, or sunset with Tapas. On some Fridays, they stay open longer for special events with live music. Check the Kalatua Instagram for more information.
Arrive early to rent beach chairs for the day, and enjoy full service. Indulge in refreshing drinks and a selection of menu items delivered to the beach chairs. Or order on the beach and request to be served in the restaurant for lunch; the waiter will tell you when the food is ready.
Comfortable, cushioned beach chairs are up for rent at $75 per set in the front row, or $65- $55 per set in the rows behind, and towels & 2 waters are provided. Including 2 Beach Chairs, 2 Towels, 2 Small Waters, 1 Umbrella.
Cabanas first row $320, second row $280, which includes Cabana, 2 Towels, 2 Small Waters, 1 bottle of Rose.
Watersports:
In front of Kalatua, there are also non-motorized watersports offered, such as cool padel bikes, kayaks, and paddle boards. And if you enjoy some assistance in exploring the underwater world, try the electric seabob.
All watersports are carefully selected not to influence the wildlife of Sint Maarten.
